Pioneer
Pioneer was founded in 1938 in Tokyo, Japan, by Nozomu Matsumoto as Fukuin Shokai Denki Seisakusho, a workshop building dynamic loudspeakers. The company was renamed Pioneer Electronic Corporation in 1961.
Nozomu Matsumoto created his first dynamic speaker cone in 1937 and named it 'Pioneer', which later provided the company's permanent brand identity.
Between 1970 and 1995, Pioneer dominated home audio across receivers, turntables, and digital media. Notable landmark products included the SX-1250 and SX-1980 monster receivers (270W/ch) during the late 1970s, the PL-12D and PL-530 turntables, the RT-909 reel-to-reel tape deck, and the reference 'Exclusive' high-end line (Exclusive C3/M3 and TAD studio drivers).
