Celestion
Celestion was founded in 1924 in Kingston upon Thames, England, by Cyril French and Eric Mackintosh. Celestion became one of Britain's premier loudspeaker and driver manufacturers.
Celestion gained rock royalty fame in 1960 when their G12 driver was chosen for the Vox AC30 guitar amplifier, shaping the guitar tone of The Beatles.
Between 1970 and 1995, Celestion focused exclusively on loudspeaker design. In 1981, Celestion introduced the SL6 bookshelf speaker, incorporating laser interferometry to analyze cone flexing and a copper dome tweeter. This was followed by the aluminum-encased SL600 in 1983 and the Ditton 44/66 floorstanders throughout the 1970s.
