Cambridge Audio
Cambridge Audio was founded in 1968 in Cambridge, England, by a group of young technology graduates including Gordon Edge and Peter Lee.
Their debut product, the P40 integrated amplifier, introduced toroidal transformers to audio amplification, a design practice now widespread across hi-fi manufacturing.
Between 1970 and 1995, Cambridge Audio delivered high-end electronics. The P50 and classic P100 amplifiers built on their toroidal circuit designs. In 1985, Cambridge Audio made CD history with the CD1, the world's first two-box CD player with separate transport and DAC sections, followed by the affordable DacMagic series in 1995.
