Altec Lansing
Founded in 1936 / 1941 in Los Angeles, California (USA) by James B. Lansing, George Carrington, and E.L. Conrow, when All Technical Services Company (formed in 1936 by former Western Electric engineers) acquired Lansing Manufacturing Company, founded by James B. Lansing.
Altec Lansing's 'Voice of the Theatre' (VOTT) horn systems, created in 1945, were so revered for sound reinforcement that they were chosen as the primary sound system for the 1969 Woodstock Music Festival.
Between 1970 and 1995, Altec Lansing produced high-efficiency home horn speakers and studio monitors. The Altec Model 19 (mid-1970s) combined a 15-inch bass driver with a radial horn for breathtaking dynamics. The Altec 604-8G duplex coaxial driver remained a studio monitor standard, while the Model 14 brought compact horn listening to consumer homes.
