Acoustic Research AR8B loudspeakers
Tiny surprise, restored and matching
You will be surprised by these american made little wonders. The AR 8B model was the smallest of the range on this "Teledyne" period. Teledyne bought Acoustic Research in 1967 and produced Hi-Fi components till 1989.
It features a newly designed 6-inch woofer and a 1-1/4-inch "liquid cooled" cone tweeter with a crossover network at 2,000 Hz, and a simple, cost-effective crossover design.
The listening session confirmed punchy bass for the size, and clear, accurate mid and high frequencies.
And you will not need dozens of watts to make them sparkle. Ideal for a small room, place them on high stands close to the wall or inside your bookshelf.
This elegant speaker does not show off with its light walnut finish and brown grilles, all long time classics.
Tested, cleaned, deoxydized.
We restored them, the woofers received new suspensions, the tweeters are perfectly clear and balanced, so the ferrofluid is still operational.
This pair is matching : serial numbers are consecutive as paired at the factory.
The grilles have been steamed for sanitation.
Perfect working condition, see the photo gallery for cosmetic signs of patina and age.
The stands are not part of the sale.
