The Fisher TX55 amplifier
Is it tube?
If you consider yourself an audiophile, you can't be conservative or lazy. You must be eager to discover, to learn, to explore further than the usual Marantz, Sansui, Luxman… And to face wonderful surprises.
Fisher brand was an iconic American high-fidelity audio manufacturer, founded by Avery Fisher in 1945 and based in New-York, known for pioneering separate audio components and setting the benchmark for sound quality during the "golden age" of vacuum tube electronics.
Having the chance to listen to a tube-based X-100 a few months ago, we were suspecting the brand high interest, but were not aware that during their short production period of solid state, their excellence was kept alive.
Here we are in 1973, with a modest 12 watts per channel integrated amplifier. This little form factor gem is one of the latest Fisher models, as in 1975 the brand was took over by Sanyo. Fisher amplifier models are referred as "The Fisher" and then the model code.
Let's plug. Wooow… that sound. It's comfy, warm, singing. You are teleported to the period instantly, you feel the air filled with Stan Getz notes while watching the horizon and sipping a long drink on the terrace of your Richard Neutra desert house. And the combination of brushed silver and the walnut woodcase are gorgeous.
You are the only one to know if you have the same imagination when listening to a great piece of music, but we are convinced that even without the decor, your will really appreciate this little happiness maker. Pair with high sensitivity speakers and indulge yourself into the mellow.
