Jean-Marie Reynaud JMR XO model 1 loudspeakers

270€
for the pair

One owner from new, matched pair, mint

Jean-Marie Reynaud is a french acoustic engineer, driven by passion, who founded his brand JMR in 1969. He is probably today one of the most respected names in French loudspeakers self-entrepreneurs with George Cabasse and Pierre-Etienne Léon.

While Cabasse passion for marine made him name his models like boats, Reynaud had an infinite love for music, and for his native Charente, so if in the seventies his production was named by borrowing historical music vocabulary, here the XO refers to the finest famous Cognac.

Based on JMR’s reputation for high-quality, audiophile-grade loudspeakers, the XO series combined advanced engineering principles with traditional craftsmanship to deliver a speaker that was notable for its natural sound, balance, and musicality.

Built as a heavy bookshelf loudspeaker, the XO model 1 is the most compact of the range and his exploiting a refined two way design backed up bydrastically selected high-value electronics to ensure the best audio signal.

The listening session confirmed our preliminary readings about JMR products. A broad and balanced frequency response, covering the low-end bass, midrange, and high frequencies with a seamless transition between the drivers. The low-end was tight and controlled, while the midrange remained open and transparent. The high frequencies were detailed without being overly bright, allowing the speaker to deliver a natural and engaging sound signature. Globally and instantly a very seductive and audiophile impression.

While the factory still exists in Charente, France, driven by the son of Mr Reynaud with the same philosophy, vintage JMR models are not so mainstream and we are happy to present you such a distinctive and so good looking model. We are convinced that an open-minded audiophile will be rewarded after adopting this magnificent pair of french "musical art de vivre".
