Marantz CD63 Special Edition CD player

190€

Bargain high end

The concept of the Marantz Special Edition series is to pick an existing model from the range, and to rework the design and components to make it a more musical and upscaled device (and of course more expensive).

This successor of the CD62 SE was reworked with a heavier chassis to reduce resonance, Discrete High-Dynamic Amplifier Modules (HDAM) in place of cheap integrated op-amps for lower noise and improved slew rates, a beefier power supply, higher range Elna Silmic/CeraFine capacitors.

Very positive reviews abunded, for a machine were the musicality was close to the one of an high-end machine costing ten or twenty times more…

Keywords were: punch, warm toned, airy treble, timed bass, expression, clarity on vocals and good image and separation of instruments.

Pair it with a vintage DAC (coaxial or optical digital outputs), and you will rediscover all your CD collection, the audiophile way.

Tested, cleaned, deoxydized.

While a refined product, it is good to hear that its Philips CDM-12.1 mechanism is still easily serviceable today.

Perfect working condition, see the photo gallery for cosmetic signs of patina and age.
