The R series were designed by Robin Marshall after his Audiomaster period and before he founded Epos. Launched in 1986, the Monitor Audio R652 remains a landmark model that cemented the brand’s reputation as a leader in high-fidelity loudspeaker design. During an era when "bigger was better," the R652 challenged conventions by proving that profound musicality and scale could be achieved within a modest, elegant footprint. This loudspeaker perfectly distilled Monitor Audio’s core philosophy: a relentless pursuit of transparency, harmonic integrity, and the faithful reproduction of the original recording.

The R652 signature is characterized by a smooth, detailed top end that avoided the metallic stridency common in many contemporary metal-dome designs.
