Monitor Audio was founded in 1972 by Mo Iqbal. They started business in Teversham, near Cambridge.

This Monitor Audio Silver RS1 is a highly regarded bookshelf speaker that blends performance and design. The finish is the classy Walnut veneer.
We can talk about a "young vintage" unit here, has it appeared in 2005. In this "second age" of Monitor Audio, their major innovation is here exploited at best: the C-CAM. The C-CAM stands for Ceramic-Coated Aluminum Magnesium, and is a real hallmark of Monitor Audio, introduced in the '80s.

In terms of sound, the Silver RS1 offers impressive performance for size in a two-way design, with a 6-inch C-CAM woofer and a 1-inch gold dome tweeter.  

The bass is tight, punchy; the midrange frequencies are smooth and aligned, while the gold dome tweeter ensures crisp, detailed highs. 
Surprisingly, the balance and refinement of the speaker allows to play a wide range of music genres, from classical to rock, with clarity and precision.

The excellent imaging and soundstage creates a sense of depth and space in the music, the performance immersion is really astonishing from such a small performer.

Easy to drive and position, very nice to look at, you can also consider them for front speakers in your home theater installation; as they existed also in an AV pack combined with a subwoofer.
