Tannoy Reveal passive monitors

for the pair

First series, passive and great to associate with cool amps

The Tannoy Reveal 802, passive series, helped define affordable near-field monitoring for home studios in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Built around 6″-ish woofers and soft-dome tweeters in ported cabinets, these monitors delivered balanced, neutral response at a time when many bedroom producers were just getting into recording and mixing at home. Their design favored transparency over coloration, letting musicians hear mixes without artificial boost or hype — a major factor in their widespread adoption among emerging producers and project studios.

Because they are passive (unlike most monitors after the years 2000), these early Reveals were almost always paired with small companion amplifiers like Samson servo-class models. But soon, early users noted that coupling them with refined audiophile amplification produced clear highs and a controlled midrange, while the best in class high current providers, associated with precise back wall positioning filled the picture with strong bass for the size.

Today, we can verify those experiments. Pair them with a solid and clean amplifier, these classic passive monitors still deliver punchy dynamics, clarity and sharp imaging for electronic genres when driven properly.

If you are into a small room, on your personal space, we bet you will appreciate your electronic or dynamic tracks to the full and with better satisfaction than your headphones with such a pair.
