SAE
SAE (Scientific Audio Electronics) was founded in 1968 in Los Angeles, California, by Ted Winchester and Morris Kessler.
SAE engineered heavy-duty solid-state power amplifiers and preamplifiers.
SAE was famous for black rack-mountable anodized faceplates with red LED power meters and champagne gold handles, defining 1970s American professional studio aesthetics.
Between 1970 and 1995, SAE manufactured high-power amplifier components. Standout models included the Mark III and Mark IV power amplifiers, the SAE 2400 (200W/ch) power amplifier, the SAE 2800 parametric equalizer, and the 01 series digital-display preamplifiers.
