Musical Fidelity
Musical Fidelity was founded in 1982 in Wembley, London, by professional clarinetist Antony Michaelson. Michaelson set out to design audio amplification that conveyed the natural warmth of live orchestral instruments.
Antony Michaelson built the first prototype amplifier, the The Preamp, on his kitchen table, which immediately gained enthusiastic acclaim from audio journalists.
Between 1982 and 1995, Musical Fidelity released celebrated amplifiers and digital components. The A1 integrated amplifier (1984), a 20W/channel Class A design, ran extremely hot but delivered breathtaking musical midrange. This was followed by the massive A370 Class A power amplifier and the 1993 X-10D tubular line buffer stage.
