Cabasse Goëlette M1 speakers
French élégance
The visionary French engineer George Cabasse founded his audio company, Cabasse, in 1950. Since then its products rely on 3 pillars: transparency, fidelity, sensitivity. Notable as well, a passion for sailing that will be set upfront by the consistent naming of his models after ships and vessels.
This Goëlette M1 was released in the mid-1980s. The Cabasse signature is completely present in this model: self-built components, very elaborated filter, lushious veneer allround and the vertical alignment of the transducer emitting sources by a stepped front face.
Cabasse products of this period are very sought after and fairly rare to appear, and we understood why on the listening sessions. The reputation of Cabasse is perfectly legit: defined, transparent, analytical; but not fatiguing or brittle as some "modern" speakers putting the sense of detail upfront in their presentation.
Not for the boomy bass lover, they are at home on classical, jazz, acoustic, vocals and instrumental music. While their shape is fairly approaching a column model, we recommend to use stands of 30 to 40 cm to keep the balance natural.
Notable as well their high sensitivity, they are perfectly driven by a 15 watts solid state and probably tubes.
A very engaging vintage speaker of a famous but not easy to find brand.
Tested, cleaned, deoxydized.
The grilles have been reupholstered with black acoustic fabric.
Perfect working condition, see the photo gallery for cosmetic signs of patina and age.
The stands are not part of the sale.
