Hitachi PS-17 Turntable
Rare and solid performer
Hitachi Ltd. Corporation is a japanese conglomerate, representing large industrial products such as turbine generators, construction machinery, but also household appliances like air conditioning, and, what interests us, consumer electronics. Targeting the higher end from the end of the seventies, it is fairly uncommon to spot one of their Hi-Fi products in Belgium, despite the excellent build quality
Today we present you the top of the range PS-17 turntable, produced between 1976 and 1978. We hear some of you: ok, yet another japanese belt-drive turntable? No, today, a special focus on this rare find, because of the value for money, the build quality and the gorgeous vintage look.
The Hitachi PS-17 is a semi-automatic model, with an S tonearm, anti-skating, solid wood plinth and a whisper quiet servo controlled motor. The heavy, solid, adjusted craftmanship and the replacement belt super easy to find combined with an "only specialists know about me" brand make it a super value for money candidate. The original DM cartridge is present, with an AT VM3 diamond. Regarding the looks, if you are after a black but vintage turntable, look at this: minimal design, strobe platter, nice controls.
Very difficult to find in this original and good condition, one to pick now if you "think different" about the looks of your vintage system.
Tested, cleaned, deoxydized.
The belt is brand new. The diamond is in perfect condition. The dust cover shows minimal markings of age and is not dented or cracked. The Cinch RCA connectors are not oxydized or aged. The grounding cable is new. All logos present.
Overall, excellent price value for a semi-automatic, exotic, turntable.
Perfect working condition, see the photo gallery for cosmetic signs of patina and age.
