Sansui AU519 amplifier

600€

Black diamond

The eighties for Sansui were a tremendous success. Backed by their justified reputation gained with the previous legendary AU series amplifiers from the seventies, Sansui had a clear marketing vision of their products, especially the amplifiers who were a benchmark for the competition.

Among the Sansui guidelines, we can spot: the studio ergonomics with big clear dials and available rack handles, the black matte colors, the outstanding quality, and a comprehensive model identification: 1x, 2x, 3x are the slimline models, and from 4x and above the big guys.

And here we are with a big one. The Sansui AU 519 is the evolution of the 517, tremendous amp. The evolution is far more than rolling the numbers, as this model has all the qualities of the 517 plus the brand new, patented Diamond Differential circuitry design and more watts. This central, pivotal model has even the pre-out main in feature that was lacking on his 719 brother.

Like the rest of the family, the AU-519 has super low THD and TIM distortion and a very rapid rise time/slew rate. But let's leave the specs wars, we need to know how it sound, let's plug.

What you expect from an amplifier of this standard his dependability. Never it should be deceiving, never it should show to be overwhelmed by any situation, tricky speakers, rollercoaster sources…

Mission accomplished. The transparency, the dynamics, the scene, the clarity and the guts, all are here… everything is in it's place.

The claimed 70 watts RMS per channel into 8 ohms are just a joke… it is ready to slap any 100+ watts amp… the power reserve seems infinite and your ears will melt before this guy seem to have a hard time. Fantastic amp, we believe this generation (especially the big ones) a too much shadowed by their legendary ancestors of the second half of the seventies.
