Marantz
Marantz was founded in 1953 in Kew Gardens, New York, by Saul Marantz.
After financial distress, Saul Marantz sold the company to Superscope in 1964, shifting production to Japan.
Marantz receivers of the 1970s featured the iconic 'Gyro-Touch Tuning' wheel, a weighted horizontal tuning wheel designed for smooth station selection.
Between 1970 and 1995, Marantz created legendary stereo components. The Marantz 2270 and 2325 receivers defined 1970s silver-face hi-fi.
In the 1980s and 1990s, under Philips ownership, Marantz became a digital reference with the CD-63 / CD-63SE CD players and PM-64/PM-80 Class A/AB integrated amplifiers.
